Zithers date back to biblical times there were mainly manufactured in Europe.
In the later 19th century they became very popular in the United States as a parlor instrument. They are   played on the lap; table or some are hand half upright.
This is an Antique Zither Musical instrument made from wood. It has 30 strings, frets, tuning heads and a sound hole with lovely hand applied decorated cork cover.
This zither has a carrying Case with a metal handle, two hinges, paper liner with applied floral bouquet decoration and gold hallmark plate on the back this musical instrument offers a bonus handmade quilt cover with a blue, green, red, yellow, black and white floral shaped pattern. The piece is unsigned appears to European very old possible late 1880s.
This is a wonderful antique musical Zither collectible to keep on display or play.
