    Description

I'm selling this beautiful early 1800's American made violin in a fully restored state. The violin has been professionally set up and will ship slightly out of tune to prevent too much tension on the front plate, the bridge and the sound post are positioned correctly for the North East US region for this season (it may need to be re-adjusted depending on where you are playing it based on moisture, elevation, temp, etc.). It projects wonderfully, with a deeper, more resonant tone. The color is also spectacular, a very pleasing red-brown with very nice figuring on the back, sides, and scroll. The tuners are one of the nicest features to the violin, they are very interesting and ornate looking mechanical tuners probably from the repair done in 1906. Everything works smoothly on the instrument.
The earliest repair looks like it was made pre-1900, then the violin was repaired again by W.A. Helm from Traverse City Michigan on March 1, 1906. The violin is dated pre-1850 due to the neck replacement made pre-1900. All repairs made to the instrument were done by a noticeably skilled luthier, especially the neck replacement where the front block was also replaced in the process. The violin is fully blocked and lined. The repairs performed in my shop were to adjust the mechanical tuner positions, fix a hairline opening on the top, create and fit a new sound post, and refit the feet on the bridge.
After the few repairs and setup, the violin is now ready and more than willing to be played.
Please let me know if you would like more pictures, including pictures of the inside. Also, I am willing to create and send a sound file of the violin being played, upon request.
    Thanks for looking!
Package will include violin and case
Lastly, I am a small shop and sadly I do not accept returns
